Bill and I stopped at the home of former students, Dave and Katy. As we proceeded afterwards along the highway this double rainbow appeared. Maybe there is “gold” at the end of the rainbow. Maybe what Dave and Katy and so many others are doing in front and back yards is the gold at the end, and the beginning, of the rainbow.
Dave and Katy’s Home In Ann Arbor, and a Rainbow
July 25, 2010

I agree that what we are all trying to do is the gold at the end of the rainbow. We had 4 3/4 inches of rain in four days last week and the kids kept looking for those rainbows. I think they found one on the last day. Thanks for posting pics of what others are doing. It is encouraging to know that we are not the only ones out here doing this. Take care and Safe Travels!

Dear Wayne (and Bill),
We are so bummed that we were not home when you stopped by. We are learning so much in our garden, such as stepping back and allowing natural forms and processes to emerge. We have discovered little micro climates in our tiny urban plot that have surprised us with amazing yields, such as the warm spot next to the compost pile and apple trees providing us an unexpected bounty of (sigh) volunteer zucchini. We look forward to seeing you in August when you are back in the neighborhood.
Hugs,
Katie
