This course took place at Stelle, Illinois in the fall of 2009. The students designed a piece of property located on the edge of the Stelle community. With rain only a day away the students dug a long swale at the east edge of the property. When the rains came it afforded all of us the opportunity to see the results of our work first hand. We also paid some site visits to sites in Chicago: a honey cooperative, a native prairie school yard, a backyard functional plant landscape, a certified organic rooftop farm and a rooftop garden at the top of the Gary Comer Center.
