Primitive Living Skills

The ancients lived and survived with a complete understanding that nature would support their every need. The basis for all of our modern technologies arises through the craft, experience and intuitive awareness of those that came before us.

The Permaculture Project offers field courses that, through initiatives, games and problem solving, introduce the student to the necessary skills to live close to the earth:

  • Outfitting: primitive and modern equipment
  • Shelter building
  • Maps, compass and backwoods travel
  • Plant life
  • Animal life
  • Fibers and string making
  • Weaving and basketry
  • Basic first aid
  • Primitive tools
  • Survival kits
  • Fire
  • Water
  • Flintknapping
  • Primitive musical instrument construction
  • Native agricultural methods
