We are at Edgewood College on Lake Wingra, a spectular wetlands environment. Our host, Dr Jim Lorman, a student from our 2009 Madison PDC gave us a tour of the grounds yesterday. Today we began work on a water management plan for an area which descends from the top of the college watershed to the lake. Already ecologically conscious of the way the campus has been managed, there have been several prairie rain gardens planted in places where water flows swiftly down the landscape slopes. Lake restoration is an ongoing project. The lunches in the school cafeteria are made from 80% local foods and prepared with care. Jewelweed, bulrush! Multifunctional!
