Michigan PDC: A Visit to Peter McCreedy at the Chatfield School and The Beginnings of a Design Project

Today we visited Peter McCreedy at the Chatfield School, housed in a strawbale building. Peter has made inroads into the public building scene by designing many ecologically sound elements into the classroom. The Chatfield School calls itself “non-traditional”, and it is! Or maybe we should call it the “real traditional”. Peter teaches everything from wild edible plants, blacksmithing, earthen ovens, habitat restoration, Native American studies and wildlife biology to watershed studies, fire building, gardening, storytelling, pioneer tools and simple machines and teambuilding. We partook of a wonderful pizza lunch baked in the cob oven!
