It seems that so many of us shut down in the winter, or should I say shut ourselves in(doors). The winter landscape is one of pristine color and subtle shades of multiple gradations. If we are proponents of Permaculture and believe in the dictum that it all starts and ends with observation then the winter is a season to be cherished and adored. All the nooks and crannies, the exquisite topography, the hidden corners are revealed, as if a veil were lifted and the undulating secrets of ice, frozen soil and the few remaining leaves on branches are giving us the keys to something once mysterious and secretive.
