Trees arriving today: cherries, paw paw, Asian pears, figs, almonds, blueberries, strawberries (ain’t a tree), lingon berries, filberts, goji berries, plums, rosa rugosa, rhubarb (ain’t a tree), persimmon, etc. Remember that this is all happening on a sixth of an acre with minimal amounts of work. The holes for the trees are already prepared. Many other crops are already planted and it is only the end of March. The herb spiral is filling up. The sheet mulch beds are breaking down beautifully and the worms are having a food fest. The first compost bin is almost full and we are getting ready to build the next one. Aur Beck, our local solar guy, did an estimate for solar hot water. With all the incentives out there we can afford it and install it in May. Aur and I will do the work together. Wood stoves are especially cheap at the moment because the season is over. I will be purchasing one soon. I am leaving tomorrow to teach a course in Michigan and I am not worried about weeds or anything. The system will work for itself. We simply have to set up the parameters based on our designs. See you again soon!
