Florida, Weather and Permaculture

I am in Florida for the celebration of my Mother’s 80th birthday. I just took a walk and it is in the 30’s and, with the wind chill, probably in the twenties. It has me thinking that the weather is caddywhampus, so to speak. It is normally in the seventies at this time of year. I saw two dead fish in the pond and several small lizards frozen on the sidewalk. What is up with this? When we look at climate and microclimate in Permaculture we must take all of this change into consideration. It seems as though the climate is not necessarily colder or warmer anywhere in the world, simply inconsistent and unknown. As designers we need to design according to preexisting conditions, but with this massive change how do we proceed? Food for thought.
