Making a Biochar Stove

Today I constructed a small biochar stove from found materials: a paint can, a Christmas cookie tin and an old metal stack. The only tools required were: a can opener, a screw driver, a hammer and tin snips. It took me all of a half hour to construct. Check out the new book by Albert Bates on Biochar and also the website for the TLUD stove for instructions (and check out the video below). I am in the middle of making a shagbark hickory bow (and arrows) and the cool thing about this is that I used the wood chips and scrap from the construction of the bow for the fuel for the stove. What a way to sequester carbon in creating a substrate for our plants to thrive in! Happy New Year!

Have a warm, productive and carbon filled New Year!
