We are wrapping up a design course here at Stelle, Il. The students are busy at work designing an eight acre site focused on growing food and education. For those of you who have never taken a design course I recommend it highly. As the week progresses, information, community, and hands-on learning merge into a glorious and rich experience. Folks from all over the world converge, share and relish in the fact that all those who do gather are on the same page. As a teacher I can think of no equal for continuing the process of honing my skills. I become a student again every time I stand in front of a class or take a hike to look closely at plants or dig a swale. The Permaculture system requires that we take a deep look at our lifestyle choices and how we serve or don’t serve the world.
